The first Target will open its doors in Cary on October 9. Though the economy has been rocky, the retailer has not missed a beat in the Triangle, and chose to locate one of only five new stores here. This new addition reflects the demographics of the Cary/Morrisville area. According to Casto Properties, the median income in the Triangle is eighty-three thousand dollars, and the community has a growing population of more than one million people.
The retail component of the Park West Village is huge, boasting nearly 600,000 square feet. Tenants can find everything from Target and T.J. Maxx to HomeGoods and Trader Joe’s. Developer Casto began development in the Park West Village in 2007, and after the recession, the community has expanded. While traditional retail complexes have struggled to adapt to the changing demands of consumers, Park West Village has flourished and boasts 75 retail and restaurant locations.
Waverly Place
The shopping center at the intersection of Tryon Road and Kildaire Farm Road has undergone a makeover worth more than $1 million, and now it’s playing offense in hopes of attracting new tenants and shopper traffic. According to Sandy Spurgin, senior vice president of operations at Dallas-based Northwood Retail, the shopping center’s new name is “a modern shopping and dining destination in Cary.”
The Cinebistro is located on the second floor and serves nicely prepared vegetable pasta, spicy tuna rolls, and tom yum soup. There are also good desserts to accompany a movie. The bar is full of drinks, including whiskey sours and long island cocktails. Fresh juices and latte macchiato are also available. This is an excellent option if you want to enjoy the local culture without having to drive through the city.
